Anthony Brock is a native of Montgomery, Alabama and a graduate of Sidney Lanier and Alabama State University (ASU). He was employed by the Autauga County school system for 13 years. During that time, he served as a Head Football Coach at Prattville Junior High, At-Risk Specialist for the Autauga County Board of Education, Assistant Principal at Prattville Elementary School, and Principal of the Second Chance Alternative School. Mr. Brock was also the last Principal at St. Jude Educational Institute in Montgomery. He is the Founder of the Brother2Brother and Sister2Sister Mentoring Program that still meets regularly in Autauga and Montgomery counties.
Mr. Brock also serves on the Alabama Leadership Council for the Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund, the Board of Directors at the Southeast Y.M.C.A. in Montgomery and Prattville Y.M.C.A, and he is also a former Board Member of the Autauga County Character Coalition. Brock was awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award for Central Alabama by the Montgomery Advertiser. Additionally, his mentoring program was recognized as the Autauga County Service Organization of the Year. The Montgomery alumni chapters of Delta Sigma Theta and Kappa Alpha Psi recognized him as the 2016 Citizen of the Year, and the First Congregational Church in Montgomery recognized him and his brother with the “2016 Daring to Make a Difference Award.”
He was selected at the Alabama Black Achievers Gala sponsored by Regions Bank in Birmingham as the Entrepreneur of the Year. Most recently, he was selected by the Alabama Power Company as an Alabama Bright Light, the Troy University and the ASU “Martin Luther King Jr. Beloved Community” Award, and he was also selected to ASU’s “50 under 50” Inaugural Alumni Class. Currently he is currently the Head of School at Valiant Cross Academy. Since opening in 2015, Valiant Cross Academy has been showcased in local print publications, WSFA 12’s “Making a Difference” report, WAKA 8’s “What Right With Our Schools” report, and recognized by USA Today as a 50K grant winner in the “A Community That Thrives Program.” Valiant Cross also received the 2017 Community Service Award from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
Mr. Brock is an active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Montgomery, where he serves as a Steward, Men’s Usher, Men’s Chorus Member, and Young Adult Sunday School Teacher. He is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is married to D’Tanja Brock and the couple has two beautiful daughters, Noah and Jonah.
Frederick Brock is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. He is a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. While attending Southern Mississippi, Frederick earned letters in football and track. After college Frederick was blessed to play four years in the National Football League with the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns. The next eight years Frederick worked in private business in the panhandle of Florida. During that time he started CrossTraining Way with the purpose of using the influence of athletes to impact the world for Jesus Christ. After coaching football at Huntingdon College for one year, Frederick was most recently employed as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at St. Jude Educational Institute in Montgomery. He is married to Shannon Brock and has two beautiful daughters, Gianna and Allene.
Kimberly has over 15 years of experience with the non-profit community in leadership, marketing, and public relations. The majority of her career was in the healthcare industry as a Director of Brand Management. She has served and volunteered with numerous non-profits in Montgomery and the River Region and was recently the President of The Junior League of Montgomery.
Kimberly has served on multiple community boards such as Red Tail Scholarship Foundation, Hospice of Montgomery, Montgomery Christian School, ClefWorks, Hands on River Region, Montgomery Music Project, Medical Aids Outreach, Garrett Elementary School, and The Junior League of Montgomery. She also volunteered for Impact America, Common Ground Montgomery, Hope Inspired Ministries, Brantwood Children’s Home, Medical Outreach Ministries, United Way, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Montgomery Cancer Center.
Angel earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Masters Degree in English (7-12) and a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision.
Her work experience includes teaching Middle School English Language Arts (Grades 6-8) at Opelika Middle School, serving as Assistant Principal at Prattville High School, Principal at Prattville Intermediate School, as well as, Senior Director of Personnel and Secondary curriculum in the Autauga County School System.
Tyrone earned a Bachelor in Science in Sports Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Mr. Boleware has been in education for over 20 years. Before joining Valiant Cross Academy, he was with Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL, and St. Jude High School in Montgomery.

Mr. Pettway earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Educational Technology.
Mr. Pettway has served in the Montgomery Public School System, Wes Green International School Dubai, and Central Alabama O.I.C Early Childhood Development Center. Mr.Pettway teaches Science and Computer Technology at Valiant Cross Academy.

Mr. Holmes earned a Liberal Arts degree with a minor in Education and has previous teaching experience as a geometry teacher at Dallas County High School. Mr. Holmes teaches Mathematics.

Chaquana Muhammad Townsend
Mrs. Townsend earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tuskegee University and a Master of Science degree in Christian Counseling from Cairn University. Her previous experience includes teaching English Language Arts (Grades 7-8) at Southlawn Middle School. Ms. Townsend teaches English/Language Arts to 7th, 8th, and 9th grade scholars.
"My favorite teaching moment at Valiant Cross took place at the end of last year. I encouraged my homeroom class to keep trying their hardest, because we were going to be green (high average) by the end of the year. Most of my scholars made it to high average in reading! They were so excited to see their progress! It was a great moment."
Coach Moncrief earned a Bachelors Degree in Social Science with a minor in Political Science from Troy University. He has 21 years of teaching experience in the Autauga County School System where he served as a World History and Physical Education instructor. His additional experience includes serving as Student Affairs Director, In-school Suspension Director, Second Chance Short-Term Coordinator and Athletic Director including Head Coach of football, basketball, and track coach in Autauga County School System.

Mr. Adams earned a Bachelor's Degree in Bible and Theology. He is currently a seminary student pursuing a Master of Divinity in Advanced Biblical Studies. Mr. Adams teaches Social Studies at Valiant Cross Academy.

Ms. Anthony earned a Bachelor's Degree from Huntingdon College. Valiant Cross Academy is Laural's first teaching role. She previously worked with the Youth Conferences at the Britton YMCA. Ms. Anthony teaches Science to 8th and 9th grade scholars.

Well, they are doing more than that. They are soaring beyond expectations, beyond stereotypes, beyond any limitations place upon them by the world!"
Mr. Horton earned a Bachelors Degree from Troy University and is in the process of earning his Masters from UCF Online. His previous experience includes teaching English (Grades 5th-8th) and Geography (Grades 9th - 12th) at Florida Preparatory Academy (Melbourne, Florida). Mr. Horton teaches 6th Grade Social Studies and 6th and 7th Grade English/Reading.
"My favorite teaching moment at Valiant Cross is when scholars are excited about reading out loud, and sharing with their classmates. Seeing them have a passion for learning, and not the outcome alone is what makes this so awesome. My scholars have shown me learning is more than just the destination or end results. It's about the journey!"
Mr. Curry earned a Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University of Montgomery in Business Administration. This is Mr. Curry's first year teaching. Mr. Curry teaches Algebra 1 to 8th and 9th graders.

Through challenging curriculum scholars can develop perseverance, excellence, and character. Scholars will leave Valiant Cross Academy and become agents of change."
Ms. Byrd is a graduate of Alabama State University where she earned a Bachelors in English and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has a Master's degree from Lipscomb University in Education. Ms. Byrd joined Teach for America in 2013. She worked as a founding teacher at Purpose Preparatory Academy in Nashville, TN. Ms. Byrd was the receipient of the Blue Ribbon Teacher of the Year Award for Metro Nashville Public School in 2015. She works as an instructional coach at Valiant Cross.

Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and a Minor in Maternal and Child Homes. Ms. Jones is an instructional coach at Valiant Cross Academy.
